I think it depends on what is available in one's area and the willingness to try to find the least molested used example.
Either way new or used, personally, I don't believe any of these GM suvs are worth big money when taking in consideration the issues people are having.

I myself bought an ex-rental 15 Suburban LT. I looked at about 15 to 20 other used ones that were ex rental as well.
They were severely trashed. the used car dealer did not make any attempt to even detail them or ghetto fix them.

I agree with you that higher end models fall faster, specifically as a percentage of MSRP.

However, do you think they fall nominally lower? Meaning if you buy a Yukon for $70k and a Tahoe for $60k, in 10 years will this happen: Yukon is (for example) $20k, and Tahoe is $22k?

They generally do yes.

Why did you get a former rental? What’s the advantage? A lower price?

Wow ...
Thank you every one for your fantastic response !
I feel more confident getting a GM now. At least I may have an idea what to look for.
Based on what I read and most of the advice here, I will try to get a 10 speed Yukon.
I wish there was a diesel version, but oh well...
Could I order one with the smaller wheels ? like 18 or 19 rather than 20s and up ?
One other thing I would like to ask: I have seen added cameras for side mirrors (?) ... am I misunderstanding or is that right ? it seems that is an option provided by some one else other than GM but available during the ordering process. What exactly is, and how good is it ?
Thank you again !

If you want a Yukon with the 6.2/10 speed then you will have to get the Denali. Standard wheel for the Denali is 20”, with something like 9 different 22” available. I have not heard of an option for cameras on the mirrors.

1 year ago, I paid 34,000 plus taxes and registration for a 2015 Suburban LT with 39,000 miles.
I used cargurus.com and looked for aging units on used car lots and then looked at tons of sub 40k examples. I wished I took some pictures to show here are some were so beat....
Anyways, the one I settled on, had no paint respray, little wear and upon inspection of the GPS history I found out it was used mostly to do LAX to Disney trips as well as LAX to PHX trips...

One year later, I did a total of 4 mods to it and looks pretty good to me. We are coming out of a chrysler product minivan so you can imagine how this feels as an upgrade...

But it is a gamble to go the route I went and I can understand anyone who rather just buy a new one. In our particular situation, it worked out for us.
