I just bought a 2003 Tahoe 4.8 RWD in excellent shape. Just noticed some grinding or rubbing from the rear end whenever I first pull out of a parking spot, on a hill or at takeoff (especially when cold). Only happens when turning left or right. Then after a few minutes it doesn't happen anymore. Any suggestions or opinions of what it might be? I was thinking "differential". Only happens during initial takeoff.

First thing to do, and least expensive, is remove the cover and inspect the fluid condition and for debris/metal in the fluid. Clean completely out with brake clean and let dry. Reseal and refill and drive to see if quiets down. You may have a problem with the G80, if you have one, but best to try fluid change first.
