that Spectre brand someone was selling looked pretty good for WAY less. gains were very close. there were a ton of reviews of people that have them and love it. what do you think?

I just installed Spectre ($150 at autozone). I can tell a difference in pickup and it has more of a rumble when you've got your foot in it. I've only driven about half a tank but I think I'm getting 2mpg better. I have no complaints.

OK, here we go:

Here is the "before" along with the box and packaging. It was packaged well and the parts all seem quality and well put together

Installation was straight forward. You remove the metal tray the OEM airbox sat on. I was a bit unsure about this step. Look at the pic below and you can imagine the amount of water that could get thrown up in there right onto the filter. This also shows the heat shield used with this kit.

Finsihed product. It looks great.

Installation total took me a little over an hour. I had some fitment issues with an adapter they had. If all else fails don't be afraid to take everything apart and start again. It really looks good.

Once I put it in I made a run to Home Depot. You can def hear it sucking in air with a quick press of the peddal. I can also tell a big difference in throttle response all through the powerband, but especially off the line. It is louder. I noticed it is at the loudest when you're at the top of a gear just before it upshifts and you're between 2200-2800 RPMS. Its very loud at that point. As soon as it upshifts it quiets down.

Overall I'm impressed so far for what is costs. I think it's definitely worth it.

What do you think of the filter media Narco? Do they sell a replacement filter, what do you use as a replacement when it gets dirty?

^ thanks for the post narco. I purchased mine last night and it prolly will ship after the new year. I'm in no big rush though since I haven't driven my truck since Dec 10 because of knee surgery on 11 Dec. I'm on crutches now and will be on them for about 6 weeks, but I tell you what, I will do as much as I can on crutches as far as installation goes.

I won't worry so much about water, because contrary to popular belief water is only a big issue if the filter is submerged, splashes are not that big of a treat. You can also go to Spectre's website to see if they offer a bypass valve for their intakes, gives you a little peice of mind with your intake and water. Looks good bro, glad yu like it so far, and for what it costs I think it's a great buy :Handshake:.

^ thanks. I'll post more info as I get it. To me it's worth it if I simply get 1-2 mpg increase.

92, the filter seems solid and very well made. I like it. I just put it on 2 hrs ago so I have no idea what Ill use when it's time for a new one. If this does fine I'll get a new one from Spectre. If not I'll order one from K&N.

I was just curious if they offered a replacement, and how well made it seemed. Thanks

i would always recomend an AEM dry filter over a k&n filter. dont like all the oil on the k&n and some people can put on way to much and it can get sucked up in MAF and throttle body. just better to go with the dry filter. ive had many jeeps with the k&n cai that i swapped the filters for AEM. made my own hybrid dry k&n system
