Notice when driving through town at low speeds the engine really lugs in V4 mode with light acceleration. Feel those four cylinders really working hard and vibrates some. I don't like that at all. I've found that with our 2019 with the 5.3 I can put the shifter in low range and toggle it into 3rd or 4th gear and it will stay in V8 mode. Stop at red light and it shifts back to first and upshifts normally to the selected gear, still in constant V8 mode. Might not work for all? Not sure if this affects anything else?

wont harm a thing, it has discussed and recommended for those on the fence about disabling AFM permanently.

my 17 has it disabled for awhile now after driving like you mentioned. much nicer to not have to worry about it.

I have had the Range Technologies module installed in my 2016 Yukon for over a year and have not looked back. Fuel economy is the same and no V4 mode. Zero problems and smooth operation. Best $180 spent.
