AFM cylinder deactivation delete? Whose dinner it. Suggestions?

Darn, saw that in the other post. Post up some pics when you can. Change the differential and transfer case fluids and flush the cooling system too. Pull a spark plug and see if it looks like it was changed at 100K or just put in new plugs and wires.

Is this an early or later 2015?

I'm honestly not sure. I literally only had it long enough to adjust the seat to my liking lol. The dealer is hoping to get a transmission first of the week and the mechanic claims he can have it swapped out within a day. Once I have it I plan on going through it and changing fluids, greasing everything and doing any minor maintenance as needed. A buddy of mine has a really nice shop, I'll take it there so we can get it on the lift and inspect everything.

I already know I want to add the OEM steel skid plates, shorter ppv valance, tow hooks and a transmission cooler and brake controller (prodigy or similar). I'll also inspect the shocks, but plan on upgrading them sooner than later. This is going to be a work vehicle for me so I want to make it as reliable as possible. Just glad the transmission failed now and not on one of our Powerline access roads....

Good plan. Is that a Goodwrench transmission with the 100K warranty?

Not sure yet. They were supposedly trying to find something with the best warranty possible. I plan on stopping in there on Monday to see what they found. My preference is staying GM, but it'll probably be a Jasper or something similar. However, the mechanic is a retired (last year) GM mechanic that worked at the local Cadillac and then GMC dealership his complete career. Hopefully he will find the best possible transmission. He said he would go over everything and look for any other issues (sounds silly to do after the fact), but hopefully he gets it up and running 100%. I really don't want to do any major mechanical work on it myself. My days of changing out transmissions, engines etc. are hopefully past.... at least until I get my own vehicle lift lol.

I have heard horror stories regarding the cylinder deactivation on the LS series engines. Whose running an AFM delete? Any suggestions? Does it make a difference?

Have been running a DiabloSport Model S1000 in my '20 RST (6.2l) since January with no issues and the gas mileage increase is negligible.

GM trans last I checked was 100k warranty. They were also like 3k new at cost.

The trans swap in these things is super easy. Almost like they were designed to come out quick so doing it in a day is easy. If its the 6 speed the torque converters where known to fail. Mine on my 2016 did so and took out the trans. Be sure to get a new quality converter as well if the trans ordered does not come with one.

I have mine set to deactivate after 60 mph. Once I get enough money to get everything I need to completely remove it.
