In my search for a future replacement for my Tahoe, I was looking up the reliability of the AFM system. It seems that major improvements were made at about 2011, but extended oil change intervals/poor quality oils/filters would still be an issue. Also, neglecting to clean the screen at the oil pressure sensor might spell death for the system. Yes, it seems that this could be all fixed by tearing into the system and replacing everything. Been there (with a cracked head) and don't really want to go there again!

So, I notice that AFM disablers are not available for 2019 onward. Was there a significant change to the system that makes it even more reliable?

I still hear about AFM issues from 2011 up. Is there any good way to determine the health of the system so I would know the motor isn't going to implode 3 weeks later? Keep in mind, sellers often do things like stick in heavier oil, additives, outright lying that "no, it doesn't use a drop of oil...."

In my searching I haven't seen any good answers for these two questions, and I think they are important questions.

AFM still has random issues

i think for the 2019 & up, they changed the related programming or encryption of said programming.

In the back of my mind I recall some change with the oil screen. I don't know what that change was, or what year, or even if there was a change. It's just something in the back of my mind.
