Afm not working correctly?

Okay I need a little help figuring out if my afm is working properly. So I've my 2011 yukon going on 6 months, and I've noticed the only time I get the Afm to activate is around 30 to 45 mph and thats I-4 but whenever I'm at highway speeds nothing doesn't activate, Only stays in v8. I thought there was a v6 mode? Is there something wrong or is later years that it happens.

P.s I have a disabler on the way. If it's literally just the I-4

AFM in your truck is either V4 or V8, it shuts down cylinders 1 and 7 and 4 and 6. Cylinder de-activation depends on a number of parameters, a major one being load. If you have every seat occupied or you're pulling a trailer or have 500 pounds of feed in the rear, it is not going to come on, if it all. Hilly terrain, it'll mostly come on while going downhill and not up. If it stops working properly, you're wallet will know it!

Many here do. I found it annoying. I have a Range plugin disabler that worked well but I since had a performance tune and had it turned off in the tune. I have the disabler up for sale in the classified section here.

Like James said it depends on various things, like how hard you press the go pedal, if you have stock wheels and tires, stock height, etc
a lot of us just disable it with a tune. To me it was just annoying

Yes, when I was new and still learning, I was scared that it was going to fail after reading all these posts on these forums. I had it turned off in the tune. If I were to start all over, I'd be inclined to leave it. Dirty oil from extended oil changes is AFMs worst enemy. It's also important to use Dexos approved oil.

Any idea how to delete in a tune?
And I find somewhat annoying to it sometimes kicks in weird place and cause the transmission just go nuts when going back into v8 plus it doesn't help at highway speeds

any of the off the shelf canned tuners will do it or you can send the ecu out to have it deleted for about $50 or blackbear can do it but that includes some more tweaks and runs about $600 if you purchase there programmer, it's less if you send them your ecu, there are other places that offer tunes as well.
