I have a 2016 thats been sitting a few months now and well I want it back on the road now. The stock 6 speed died on me and I would like something beefier than factory.

I hear mixed reviews on monster transmissions and was wondering what supplier of built transmissions is reccomended by the community as I do plan to add some power to this bus as well.

I would ask friends and relatives to recommend a good local tranny shop and then go talk with them about a rebuild and beefing it up with upgraded parts.

We have 1 local trans shop and they are junk. He wants to be the one to pull the trans and to install it. After explaining ill save that labor as I can pull it and install it fine he wants to charge the same price as him doing the labor just to build it.

He does not do performance builds either. And the only trans I ever had him build was a 700R4 and it did not last a year.

may check w/ Circle D, Sonnax, Century trans, Jasper, gwatney perf, or mad dog trans for some info & see what works best for your budget & such.
(the last 2 are mentioned on camaro & vette forums.)

could also buy a rebuild kit from above & do yourself or find a diff shop to do it.
pirate4x4 & a camaro forum have good posts on rebuilding them.

What exactly is wrong with the transmission?

Get rid of the factory thermostat in those things, it shortens their life greatly but makes the emissions people happy, at your expense!

Apply piston cracked and ive only got 1st and 2nd.

As far as a self build I may go that route. Ill look into the mentioned companies as well as monster ive heard bad about lately.

Budget isnt anlimiting factor for me nust want something that will last.

Over the years I have used and never had a problem with Jasper reman engines, transmissions, axles, transfer cases.....etc. They will also build to your specs.

I have had problems with jasper ,with a $15,000 diesel twice same engine! Never again!

Well, like they say, no one is perfect but I am curious about that problem. I never used them for any diesel parts/assemblies. Was it on big tractor rigs and was it on Detroit's?
