I"m wanting to add an aftermarket CAI to my 6.2 AT4. But, I'm looking for whichever one produces the least amount of noise from the engine. I'd like to do this and not tell my wife and hope that she doesn't notice it. She's against anything that will change the engine/exhaust sound from factory...

For those who have changed their factory intake system over to an aftermarket design (K&N, S&B, Rotofab, etc.) I'm curious about your experience. I've used these on previous vehicles and found throttle response to be improved along with audible changes, some not so good. From the research I've been doing it appears that most of these systems have been dyno'd by someone and shown to produce power gains. But most owners also commented about the improvement in throttle response. Is that what you all have experienced too? Which system would produce the least amount of sound? Thanks!

Just my 2 cents but on most newer vehicles you will not see a gain in power unless your air filter was already dirty and obstructing airflow. With every manufacturer trying to squeeze out every bit of horsepower and mile per gallon they can get out of the vehicles they sell wouldn't they already have a cold air intake from the factory? They already do. They pull in air from outside the engine compartment they're just not as fancy looking. If and I say that lightly you'll only see gains at the very top of the rpm range where you will rarely be driving around at.

Put the money towards a tuner if you're looking for a better driving experience

Aftermarket CAI has less restriction. I have the rotofab on a 5.3. My wife doesn't notice the sound difference. I am not sure there is any driving difference without doing side by side testing. I have considered putting stock back on to do testing but haven't yet.

Are you saying that the independent before and after dyno tests are not accurate? And that the subjective observations are also not accurate?
From what I understand there is no tuning options for the 2021+ engines available yet.

Unless the OEM air intake setup for the 6.2 motor has changed, your existing OEM setup is already a CAI intake, because the intake air is already coming from the wheel well area, and not the engine bay. Check it out on your truck and confirm.

There was 1 documented test performed by BlackBear Performance that showed 1 CAI configuration providing 4 to 5 additional horsepower. Since the 6.2 already produces 400+ horsepower, you would not even notice that minimal increase in horsepower. You can contact @BlackBearPerf for additional details, if you wish, but I recommend that you look something else to add a mod to your wife's truck, and don't waste your hard earned money.

Also, most CAI's that I am aware of will add some sound when accelerating, so be aware of that, in view of your wife's preferences.

Was going to click 'laugh so hard I cried', until I realized how sad this was.
Unless you are willing to add extra sound deadening between the air intake / engine compartment and her ears,
she is too likely to notice any aftermarket intake, as nearly all of them are designed to make the intake pleasingly louder.
If she cannot be pleased by a louder intake, don't waste your money here.
You're not going to notice ANY gains when driven normally anyway.

Were I you, I'd spend money upgrading the tires, brakes, steering, suspension, preferably in that order.
The vehicle will become both safer and more fun to drive - so long as she doesn't find it too 'rough' or 'stiff' or 'jarring'.

You may need to cheat on your spouse ... with another vehicle ...

I plan to use the Airaid jr kit when I can find a deal on it. It contains just the tube and drop in filter. I will get the non-oiled filter kit.

drop a supercharger in it then you can listen to 2 different whines.....at the same time

I had the Airaid intake tube on my 6.2 at the recommendation of Blackbear Performance, before installing my supercharger. It definitely cleaned up the appearance of the top of the motor, but it also eliminated some of the OEM designed intake sound deadening (tuned baffles). Please be aware that the Airaid intake tube also adds a slight amount of additional noise to the intake while accelerating.
