I just installed an aftermarket double din head unit using the PAC RP5 GM31 harness. It retains onstar, rear audio, and the chimes. Anyways, right after I installed it, the speakers in the rear buzz and make a high pitch whine. The whine gets louder as the engine revs higher. I can turn the car off and put the radio on mute, and still hear a hiss until I open the door and everything shuts completely off. When I turn on my rear audio controls, it seems like the hiss/whine/buzz goes away. What the hell is going on. I have checked my headunit ground and my amp ground, they are good. I am thinking it has something to do with the rear audio, but cant quite figure it out. If I cut the wire on the harness that is for the rear audio, will it fix my problem or just screw it up even more? I have tried everything I know to do and I am lost. Audio gurus, help me please.

I would say it is in your connection or it is the PAC adapter.

The connection to what? Right after I got installed, I turned the key to ACC mode to hear it, and it sounded fine then. It only started making noise after I cranked the car, and then began to do it all the time.

I have disconnected the amp power wire from the batter and removed the amp rcas from the head unit along with the amp turn on wire. It still has the noise with just the head unit connected to the RP5 GM31. I am at a loss and can't figure it out.

Just to add a little info on this, I finally figured it out. On the PAC RP5 GM31, there are two solid green wires. One of them is the output for the rear camera, and the other is the rear left speaker output. Neither of them are labeled in any sort of way. I had somehow gotten them switched and that was what was causing all my problems.

Glad you got it sorted! I just bought a new system awaiting for it to arrive. How do you like the PAC RP5 GM31? Do the steering wheel and rear controls all work good? Read a couple people were having minor issues/delays with the steering wheel controls.

I got the PAC RP5 GM31, the USB Update adapter just incase as well as the Rear Seat Entertainment option so all my factory leftovers should still work with the aftermarket headunit nicely (at least as advertised lol)
