Aftermarket pain in my ass!

So my yukon has this stupid aftermarket chip anti theft crap on it. I can't find a lot of information about it and it's supposed to keep the vehicle from starting if this chip is taken out from under the steering wheel. I've been keeping the chip plugged in because I'm afraid to lose it. I've been having a problem where even with the chip in the yukon still has issues starting. I have to reach down and push on the chip while trying to start it and it usually takes me multiple attempts to get it started. Does anyone have any info on this stupid thing and how I might remove it. It's nothing but a pain in my butt!

Well chances are its tied to some wires in your ignition harness, so trace the wires back and you should find some that are cut, with the "silencer" wires tied into them. so just reconnect the appropriate wires. But really a behind that knee brace may help more so we can see what its actually wired into.

pretty much what is stated above. If possible avoid reconnecting with butt connectors. Solder and heatshrink is your best bet.

use a pencil eraser and clean those dirty ass contacts. you can start there.

Had that in the Trailblazer I used to own. It was dealer installed but I wouldn't pay for it. They simply broke the black portion of the key off, leaving the PCB portion in the plug (Not suggesting you try that).

I never had a problem with it, probably since it wasn't pulled out and re-inserted hundreds of times. Since I didn't have the system and didn't want to mess with the wiring I simply unscrewed the harness from the trim and tucked it up underneath in the harness. I forgot I even had it installed until I saw this post.

If you can clean the contacts and restore proper starting behavior, maybe just tuck it up under the dash and forget about it like I did. Either that or get a hold of a replacement key and then tuck it up under the dash.
