I'm *crossing fingers* lucky so far that the 2007 Tahoe we just purchased has 87k and NO cracks. Don't know if original owner replaced it, or just lucky (so far) so I'm also concerned that doing anything near the dash will make me run out of luck. Other recalls don't show up when putting in the VIN, so I'm assuming the other airbag recall work was done without a hitch.

WOW It's crazy you found a '07 Tahoe under 100K miles ???

Well, well, after years of being told my truck was not part of the recall, the mailman delivered a letter from GMC yesterday telling me that my passenger-side airbag needs replacing and that parts are available, just call and schedule an appointment.

All this time I thought it was the driver's side airbag.

It seems like the parts availability is going chronologically by years.

I'm just basing this off of what I've seen on this forum of users posting that parts are available for theirs.

I know, right? It really was an impulse buy haha. We had been kind of marginally looking for a Tahoe for a while and I saw this ad on FB for a local swap, called about 10 minutes after listed (you have to jump on those ads!), went and test drove it and made an accepted offer for 10k (they were asking for 11k) within 4 hours. So here I am, after the fact, doing research on this vehicle and learning all about things like air bag recalls, cracking dashes and the dreaded AFM haha

I knew it was the passenger airbag. I got the letter and have an appointment for next Wednesday to get it replaced on my 08 Silverado. The service department is gonna be a bit surprised to work on mine. It hasn’t seen a dealership in its life. I’ll have to leave it aired up when I drop it off. I hope they don't scratch it or mess up anything! When picking it up I'd check it really good before driving off. I've had TERRIBLE experiences with dealership service depts! Def check it for scratches or any other damage.

Believe me I know. I’m on it Tony! I just washed it so it will be easy to check. The dash is new too so there’d better not be any damage to it. In fact the entire interior is pretty much all new.

Well after reading all this I checked my local dealership and they had the part in inventory so I have an appointment tomorrow to have the recall fixed on my 2013 SSV. Last time they changed my oil they spilled some in the cowl and when I turned the wipers on to go home it smeared it all over the windshield. Can't wait to see how they can mess the recall up! :-{
