The K&N AirCharger 63-3082 air intake system replaces your vehicle’s restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your vehicle’s engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 63-3082 air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that replaces the factory air box. This allows cooler, denser air to be directed through a custom molded intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The oversized air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install requiring only a screwdriver, socket set and several wrenches. This air intake cannot be sold in California. It is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards.

Exactly what I was looking for. So it appears that both engines use the same intake. If anyone has one installed give me some impressions.

I just finished installing mine. The kit comes with to adapters depending on the engine size. I'm warning you now that if you don't like engine noise then DO NOT get this intake. The truck sounds really mean with the intake now

Which motor do you have? I noticed good sound and increased power in my 2001 Tahoe with the 5.3. I don't think fuel savings are meaningful.

Is it too loud? I wouldn't care around town in general but too much engine noise at highway speeds would be tough.

I have an Airraid from my 2007 Tahoe 5.3L and a K&N from my 2000 Yukon 5.3L and I really am considering this Saturday to try and modify one of them to fit this before buying another one.

Anyone running the K&N 77-3082KP?

I am curious if it is worth the price difference.

I have that one installed on my suburban - I like it but am disappointed at the finish and quality. They are actually powder-coated chrome and the stuff chips right off so be careful when doing the install. Also, it comes with some plastic crankcase adapters and be careful installing them as they are also made cheap and can be easily over tightened and broken.

If you are worried about sound then you may not want to buy one. I personally like the way it sounds but my wife hates it. You can definitely tell when throttle is wide open :)

Oh - I should add that it is not noisy at highway speeds just when you get on it.

Thanks for the write-up. I am not worried about the sound. The performance improvements should be well worth it.
