10HP seems like a nice little bump. That and the sound of a corsa may be all I need/want.

Messing with the programming seems a little scary especially if you drive the truck hard. I kinda like having the factory safety envelope that's built into default shift points and engine tuning (not to mention any warranty issues)?

Am I thinking about this wrong?

10HP is on the LS3, probably more along 5-8 when comparing to the other test intakes. Don't spend a ton on an intake.

They cost about 1.5 tanks of gas right?

What's the bump with a tune?

Did you guys run a wide band on the car when logging the dyno?

No official comparisons that I know of.

NorCal SS says the AFE makes quite a bit of power on the 6.2, Black Bear says the Airaid Jr. makes power and is cheap.

No aftermarket part can void your warranty unless the dealer can PROVE the part caused whatever part you need covered under warranty to fail. Google "magnuson moss warranty act"

in my experience they would ask me to remove said aftermarket upgrade to rule it out as being the cause

Depends on the gas...

If your dealer wants to ding you for warranty, the intake and exhaust will be sure fire ways as well.

I am on travel and have had access to the sheets yet, but everything was documented and sheets collected. Keep in mind, this was on an LS3 and the SS has a different intake set up than the trucks.

Most intake companies increase claims actually also include tuning. If you read the fine print, they usually mention the use of some programmer.

Doesn't GM offer a cat back exhaust as a factory option?

They offer all sorts of options. If they install it, they won't come after you for it. Some packages, like the Rocky Ridge offer tuning. The Calloway has a supercharger.

I asked the guys about the AirAid and they stated, "Airaid had zero impact on the final fueling without the supercharger. With the supercharger, caused a very slight richening of the mixture when installed. Not to the point that it would be worth even tweaking it, as it would not yield any performance difference."

Wow. Weird the supercharger made the final fuel more rich! That the stock computer scaling will allow 6-7 psi of boost on the factory map!
Usually a car leans to danger zone even before about 2 psi... Sometimes less.

I know on a lot of imports, just an intake, or just something as stupid as moving the Maf sensor is enough to put the car into danger lean mode.

This must be because the new direct injection injectors can flow a Crapton more (have a small flow and a large flow) than the old traditional injectors (which really had a certain cc range you had to consider...eg 2000cc injectors have a hard time idling on pump gas on a cylinder with less than 1 liter of air volume per rotation, but do great when pushing lots of air in)
