Hey guys having a little issue I'm hoping I can get some advice on. This last weekend I installed some extra lights and had the battery disconnected. When I reconnected the battery my air will only blow out of the defrost no matter what setting it's in. I've done a little research and I've tried unplugging the HVAC fuse for 30 seconds, plugging it back in, turning the car to on position for 3 minutes and then turning it on and from what I've read it's supposed to reset the system and cycle through the modes and start working again but that didn't work. I've also read it could be the blend door actuator or mode door actuator. Has anyone else that has had the same issue be able to give me a better idea? Thanks in advance for the help.

If the reset doesn't work, then yes it's the blend door. Do you have dual zone (passenger/driver) climate?

Could a faulty blend door actuator also be the result on the AC taking a long time to heat up? It's getting cold, and when I turn on the heat it comes out cold for a while, and eventually heats up.

Would replacing this part help speed up the process?

I doubt it. If you're feeling the heat come out after the engine warms up, then it is most likely operating normally. How long have you owned your truck? It's possible you're just not used to the time it takes for the vehicle to heat up to your liking.

I've had it for two winters now. I've also thought it took a while because the truck is old and it just takes time to heat anything up. It may be normal. Newer cars heat up in seconds, that's why I was wondering.

The front blows hot after the truck warms up. But the rear does not. It's constantly cold. Could this be a rear actuator replacement fix?

I have this exact same problem now. Battery was replaced 2 weeks ago and air only blows through vents. I've read pulling the fuses should reset but it has done nothing for me. What is the exact process? I've read pull the negative cable is another way to do it but I don't know what position the key should be in, how long it should be in that position, do I turn it on, do I toggle it off and on after time. There are a ton of suggestions over the net but none seem to work.

I found this.

"First once you get actuator, new or used, make sure it can not move( I mean the metal know shouldn't be able to move by hand and diffenently don't move with pliers), if so, it is probably bad, if not go ahead and install the way it comes, and reconnect wiring. Then you will disconnect the battery for atleast 30 seconds. Then reconnect battery, turn the ignition to the ON position for atleast 1 minute, but he suggested 3-4 minutes so that's what I did, and DO NOT TOUCH THE A/C CONTROLS!!! You will then turn ignition to the OFF position for atleast 10 seconds, then start the engine and confirm the new actuator is working correctly by turning the climate knob from cold to hot. If all was done correctly it will work!! I checked the actuator by being on the passenger side, turning ignition on, moving climate knob, and sticking my head under dash to watch for the actuator to move. "
