So after 55k miles on my 2006 Denali my first non maintenance item went. The air suspension compressor pump and the evap solenoid both went sorta at the same time. Cel came on weeks ago and knew exactly what it was since i cleared it weeks prior. Before that I've seen it maybe 2x's in 5 years. My truck is lowered 2/4 and still has the factor air ride. Its seen some brutal winters in the northeast so has its fair share of rust underneath. I need to get the undercoating redone before the winter due to the factory undercoating being completely gone already. Just flaking off.
I noticed the rear didn't inflate one day when i trailered my 14ft landscape trailer and quad 2 miles down the road to work. The trailer felt extra heavy and then i hit the bumpstops ones or twice. A few days later I dropped the truck off at my buddys shop to get fixed since i no longer work at dealerships anymore. $335 later for an OEM pump and $17 for that solenoid i was back in business.
I got my truck back and i still hear the air pump running most of the time. Im curious if I have a leak in the system, maybe the factory shocks in the back that caused my pump to burn out. Im not saying thats the case as my truck is 9 years old now but i think its something to look into. I was gonna fill a bottle of soapy water up one day and try to see if i can see leaks coming from the stock shocks anywhere. Has anyone else has this sorta problem? I defiantly want to look into this and if I need new shocks in the back then so be it.
