@TahoeLT10 no worries if you did the restoration yourself. I’m surprised insurance wrote off the vehicle for that little damage. Great find!
Yeah, the insurance estimated 16k in damage, we fixed it for around 3k. I understand the resale on rebuilt is shit, but the intent was, and currently is, to keep it until it is dead. The temptation for 2021 GM is centrantly overwhelming at times as I am blessed with steady income, but the 'want' vs 'need' is still greater so I am sticking with this vehicle for much longer.

@Rocket Man I’m concerned about wiring faults particularly myself, and not just in the SRS. This is a decommissioned SSV, and when they took out all the police gear someone got busy with wire cutters. The front seats are not what it was built with either. I’ve got interesting things going on with the headlights and taillights, and the dash illumination has a mind of it’s own.
It could be the passenger presence system in that case. Does the passenger airbag light go on and off when someone gets in and out of that seat?

Cha Ching!
B0081 3A Passenger Presence System Incorrect Component Installed
B0081 71 Passenger Presence System Invalid Serial Data Received

The Foxwell scanner works great for this purpose. Earlier today before it arrived I was giving the front collision sensors a visual inspection and they looked OK. This was a Texas truck, never been in road salt.

I'll get into the seat and update this thread with the cause and correction later.

PS- great job by Amazon delivering a scanner in under 24 hours on Christmas eve!

passenger side seat sensor is easy to replace, you can just reach under the seat and do it

I’m not planning to use one of these, but it’s an interesting find: https://airbag360.com/chevrolet-tahoe-passanger-occupancy-seat-weight-sensor-2006-2009-136-p.asp

Passenger presence emulator to tell the system the seat is always occupied and to fire the airbag. $99

Whereas the OEM part is around $475. Crazy money. I bet GM doesn’t spend $50 to buy one for the production line.
I was looking at those when I was having an issue on an 05 Tahoe PPS and the cost for the new module was ridiculous but they say 06-09 only which kind of made me suspicious since the OEM modules are the same for 03- 06 but not 06-09...I ended up selling the truck as-is.

Well, the story keeps getting more interesting. According to the GM parts system, the sensor I need (25826417) was used in Tahoes only’07-‘08 and a most other GM full size in 2009.

What’s installed is 20793051 which is for full size GM 2009-2013. So someone’s done me the favor of swapping in newer seats. Which appear to be a matching set front and rear in great condition.

The ugly part is the seat wiring harness differs. The original sensor is a three wire connector and what’s in the truck has six. So I’m shopping for a complete passenger seat so I can compare them side by side to see if it’s physically possible to move the wiring harness and sensor from the 08 design and transplant them into the later model seats I have. If not, I’ll have to swap in a matching pair of complete seats of the correct generation.

Damn. This kind of stuff drives me crazy.
