those are a *****! broke the same one on the sonoma (uses the same one as the 5.7) ended up having to take it to a local machine shop to have them remove the broken threaded piece. atleast it goes into the thermostat housing which is removable...

got lucky on the Hoe and it came out. put a new one on it during reassembly. if you haven't replaced the intake gaskets and spider you might as well do it if you have to pull it apart. valve covers if they leak since they have to come off as well. :)

well i actually got it all fixed yesturday! used saw blade trick and knocked most the pieces outa thread then i drilled it out and retaped it. yes i put a rag in there to catch the shavings. never again will i go that lol. i need to replace my valve cover gaskets and glean my intake off. its nasty if you cant tell form the pics. planning on a engine clean up here real soon when i get back from florida. cant find my shop vac to suck up all the dirt and crap on it. also mo0ved my coil to the firewall. no spiders on mine.. shes a tbi

I can answer that for you. Those were available in the 96 up trucks, tahoes, and suburbans. Most all of them had that box unless it had the second battery. It will require the whole bracket, and you may as well switch to the newer style washer bottle, as he did, and I am about to do. That is a this weekend project.

Personally, I am interested in the fact that he moved the coil to the firewall. I have never seen that done, but I am sure it works good.
