I came home today from being out of town for a few days and the battery in my Tahoe was completely dead. Its an 07 Tahoe LT Z71. I jumped it off and now have a charger on it. I couldn't figure out what could have drained the battery but now I notice something. When I lock the doors with the fob or with the button on the drivers armrest an amber light flashes on the dash and doesn't seem to go away. If I manually lock the doors I don't get this light. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? The light looks like a picture of a car with a padlock going through it...

OK, duh, sometimes reading the owners manual helps. Apparently this is the security light and it does go off. Took it about 60 seconds to stop flashing. Its VERY strange that I never noticed this light before. I could almost swear that it was not coming on before now. I did have to open the door with the key since the battery was dead and when we hooked up the jumper cables the "alarm" went off. Anyway, still not sure what might have killed the battery. Nothing appeared to have been left on when I got power back to her. Never had any issues with this battery before. :smh:

Have your battery tested at a local auto parts store. Your vehicle is so new I wouldn't suspect a parasitic draw unless you have modified something electrical. Although this cannot be completely ruled out, start simple.

not new, its an 07. I have put my Bazooka tube in that was in my last car but its been in there since day 1 with no issues. I'll go get the battery checked. My buddy also mentioned parasitic draw and said he knows how to test for it so I'm gonna do that too.

I knew I wasn't crazy in not noticing that flashing light before. It is gone today. It flashes for a second when I hit the lock button and that's it...

Hello Snacky,

I do not think anyone can blame you for not noticing a light that may or may not illuminate all the time. I completely understand how it can be frustrating to come home to a vehicle with a dead battery. Since your last post were you able to find the source of your vehicle concern? Please contact us via private message if we can be of any assistance.

Thanks Jennifer. The battery seems to be fine. I ran a parasitic draw test and everything was normal. In fact, I accidentally left an interior light on last night and the truck started right up this morning, no problem. I can't figure out why it was dead that day but I guess I'll leave well enough alone and we'll see what happens :)
