I just bought an 02 Yukon XL a couple days ago. The previous owner told me there was a parasitic draw on the battery since they had an aftermarket headunit installed. Pulling the RAD AMP fuse eliminates the .5amp draw and brings it down to 19mA. So Im assuming Ive got a shorted amp. Im honestly not sure if its Bose or not. I dont see any Bose markings. It does have OnStar if that matters.

Now, 2 questions... which amp is it? and what are my options? From what ive read there is an amp in the rear by the sub, one behind the glovebox, and one under the center console (edit - after checking, i dont have this one)

If I can just get a 4 channel amp and run wires to all the speakers, Im more than capable of doing that. Just not sure if its that easy.

If it doesn't say Bose it's not Bose. Do ALL the speakers work? Rear subwoofer works? If so, if bet more on a faulty radio or install than the factory amp, seems like if it was shorted your system would act up and you'd know it

instead of a 4 channel amp
you can just run everything off the deck amp
if its an aftermarket deck it has an amp built in

if the aftermarket deck is causing a parasitic draw something its not wired correctly

Might just be the amp is on all the time due to the head unit not being wired right. It should only turn on when the hu turns on. First you need to find the amp.

I believe there is only one amp in these trucks and yours should be behind the glove box.. At least that's how it is in my 01 Tahoe

Like others have stated, if the problem started when the aftermarket H/U was installed then it is a wiring problem not an amp problem. Go over the wiring and see why the amp is powered at all times, replacing the amp will do nothing to fix the problem.

to kind of reiterate what he stated above
pull the deck out unplug the wiring harness from the factory harness

pull the deck wiring harness apart from the aftermarket harness and go through reconnect each wire with what ever i prefer solder and heat shrink but thats me
