My new 2018 Yukon SLT came with these powersteps installed when I purchased it new Dec 2018. Took it back to the dealer today, the passenger side steps will not lower. Can hear the motor engage, but no movement. Prior to taking to the dealer, I contacted AMP to troubleshoot and was told if I used automatic car wash with underbody wash, the motors were not designed for that and moisture on contacts could be the issue. I live in Ohio and with Winters and road salt, I make it a point to wash my vehicles, including underbody washes, often.

Dealer has ordered a replacement motor and will be installed once received, all covered by warranty. Service Mgr advised they have also had issues with the LED lights on the steps due to water issues either by wet roads and/or car washes.

When working properly, I really like these power steps, but with issues 7 months in, I'm wondering how things will be in 2-3 years.

Just wondering if others have had similar issues with this product.

Update, still waiting for replacement motor to arrive. First motor received was incorrect one. Three trips to dealer so far, hopefully the fourth trip will be the last one for this issue. I should disclose, the power step has been working for the last 2 weeks, but going to have the replacement motor installed anyways, once it's received.

I have fixed steps on both of my Escalades. I prefer the look and low maintenance. Though I do like to watch the power ones deploy.

I do a lot of off road water crossings and get my share of winter roads. Both have a tendency to cause my steps to not work normal so I keep a can of silicone oil in my car and spray all the pivot points on it whenever they stick or start to squeak.

I am currently on my 3rd set of Amp Research power steps...1 on each of the last 3 trucks. We had a set on our lifted 04 Titan for almost 8 years with absolutely no problems. On my 08 Silverado the only problem I had was that I popped the fuse a couple of times. On my current 15 Sierra I've had to replace the motor on the passenger side once. I contacted Amp's customer service line and they had it to me a couple of days later.
I have installed all 3 sets of mine and was very meticulous to follow the directions and not cut any corners. Having installed 3 sets now, there are certainly ways to cut corners...I know not everyone can or will do the install themselves, but it really does help you to understand what the problem is rather than just saying "these steps are a piece of ****". Once you understand how they work, they are very easy to repair when needed.
