can you convert the cable to usb or rca's on that receiver? most of the android units come with plenty of inputs via rca or usb

Potentially, the Sirius/XM receivers have a unique connection/connector that is bi-directional though. Meaning not only does it send audio/info to the head unit, but also receives information from it, i.e what stations to tune to, pausing the song, starting it over, etc.

So, even if you could take the output cable from the receive and strip the audio signal out and convert it to a native input (USB/RCA/etc), then you're still left with no way to interface with/control the Sirius/XM receiver to ever changes stations or anything.

Sirius used to sell a small tuner that can connect to an aux input. You have to control it through the unit but that's not too hard.

Aware, but the intent is to try to find a fully integrated solution/option for an Android based head unit, which apparently doesn't exist.

Phone charges like normal, when it's on android auto the screen is off anyway so it's not drawing any extra juice or anything, I kind of like that it charges and does what it needs to do at the same time

I tested this even with phone screen off (well, phone screen for me isnt off, it shows "Android Auto" but definitely seen phone sustain its current charge at best versus when plugged into outlet with screen on and heavy use, the battery percentage goes up. My expert audio friend prefers kenwood and I think mentioned their charging ability is better but not by much. On my pioneer, I hate using android auto for a while and battery warning comes on after I unplug it. I'm confident there is a difference. BTW, I do the mobile hot spot with extra phone but find better entertainment having main or secondary phone linked to youtube or similar in connection with bluetooth or chromecast (A/v) to watch videos or listen to what I want to listen to.

I have trial version of siri now and though its better than normal radio, I hate the fact that you still have to listen to whats available. I rather a spotify/youtube/apple music where I can control what I want to listen to and prefer youtube over all of them since I can listen and watch videos.

I'm going the cheap route in my '09 LTZ Tahoe. I just plug my phone into the aux port and stream Pandora radio into my Bose/Nav stock radio. I can hold out until better options are available.

Just wanted to share update. I plugged phone in and it actually does charge well! It says "slow charging" on the phone but I believe it does the same when plugged into direct car charger too. But to help with this thread conversation, under my list of playable music app options is Sirius (downloaded on phone) and I believe its an Android Auto setup, not a Pioneer setup. Wouldnt using Sirius through Android Auto solve this issue? That would be an android interface rather than pioneer/kenwood right?

I believe youre still at square one...the app uses data not a dedicated antenna (using android auto) you can just download the app on an android headunit via playstore.

I dont think youll find an all in one solution, as siriusXM requires licensing and whatnot, which most of the chinese manufacturers couldnt care less about.

kinda bored so i did a little searching...looks like it may do something
