Update: Had to have the lines from the compressor replaced. Apparently it had a severe leak right by the service ports.. $~700 later.. ($180 part, $200 labor, $100 for the performance test and $160 for the evac. And recharge)

Still with Same problems. Blew ice cold for 20 minutes... then warm. I left the a/c on while blowing warm air until i could get to my buddys house to check and see if the compressor was running but before i got there it started blowing cold again.. wtf? I got there and because there was nothing to do besides drink beer i took apart and cleaned out the evap coil.. which was gross as expected. Leaves, bugs, pine needles, and caked with mud. After a good cleaning i took the long way home with a/c on full blast with out a single issue. I hope its fixed lol

Edit: i didnt turn right around and go back to the shop because i picked it up 30min before closing, and the tech that worked on it was my buddy so he said he would look at it when he got off.

I have a similar problem,

My A/C blows cool, but not cold. It's almost worthless and I end up usually just rolling the windows down.

My cheap $5 gauge from harbor freight shows about 25 psi on the low side.

I just put a shot of UV dye into it this afternoon and found nothing. I will check again tonight. I only looked around the compressor and the lines going to the drier and the condenser. Are there any other places to check?

I put a can of refrigerant in it a while back, but as I put it in the gauge did not move at all.

1997 without rear a/c. The compressor seems to be working fine. It's not cycling on and off a bunch. I think the previous owner replaced it. It has an AC Delco sticker on it and it's not very dirty compared to everything else under the hood.

Update 2: today was 79*. Beautiful day to have to windows down. Except me. I wanted to make sure my a/c was working.

Wrong

I (unsafely and unreccomended lol) jotted down milage, temp and time everytime there was a 5* more fluctuation on the way to the shop. It was a 38 minute drive, and 28 miles iirc. I filled almost 3/4 of a college ruled note book paper with the amount of times the air temp changed. I was using a freshly calibrated chef thermometer (guess my job is good for something haha)

The lowest it got was 32-4* while the highest being 73* This is while being on max ac the entire time. I did notice at any temp above 60 the air was very damp/humid.. to the point my skin was sticking to the leather and steering wheel.

Wish I had taken a picture of my chart. But its back at the shop. I talked to the tech. He has no idea. I have no idea how long my Hoe will be there either.

Mine acts the same way. At it's coldest it might be 55 or so, but usually it's a damp 70 degrees.

Well, I'm in luck. A friend of mine has high and low side gauges and a vacuum pump. Hopefully I can at least diagnose this weekend and start ordering parts.

Since it appears I have a new compressor, is it likely the old one crapped the bed and clogged up the system?

I cleaned mine, but did not hose it out. I'll do that this weekend.
