Stresst - I have a 4-door 96 Tahoe, I got it with about 107K a few months ago, it's got 110K now. Highway wise, I swear it does better than the '00 Explorer I had before it, and it rides better too.

Jeremy, please dont take this the wrong way as im just making converstion. What do you mean you swear it gets better mileage? Its either you hand clocked both vehicles or didnt?? Again not being sarcastic but this is what I meant when I said people guess/ assume the miles per gallon.

Do me a favor, next time you fill up take note of your miles. Drive it till its dry, note the miles and then refill and do the math and let me know what you come up with. Im curious to see what you get. I sure hope your one of them thats gets 22mpg on the highway! I really am! Cause gettin max 15 like me sucks!

BTW Good luck with the new truck!

I say that about the two because I know highway, from the old MPG notes I have, the explorer was running about 17-19 best, the Tahoe has gotten an average of 20 (only 4 data points, so its not a TERRIBLE sample just not a great one) the last few trips home and back.

I'm typically seeing the city miles mainly (best around 15 but the low has been 11), I drive from my apartment to campus everyday and back, I'm on the "highway" for 5 minutes either way and I usually hit all 4 nice and long stop lights on it, so I still consider that close to city driving. Next trip home I will record both my mileage home and back, and whatever driving I do in between. To be honest, I was pretty shocked when I saw the 20 the first time though.

If I get 22 in a vehicle that weighs nearly 3 tons (including my big butt) I'll be pretty pleased, and Iwill let you know regardless.

@Gorilla, it's not so much a pissing contest, I think with a full tank on our trucks running north of $100 we all want to do the best we can. Personally though, I'm 6'5" and 290, this is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven and can't imagine driving something smaller. To me comfort/not feeling cramped > gas mileage.

I wish someone could do a poll on OBS tahoe/yukon/escalade 4door 4wd mpg thread and see what we come up with.

I really enjoy these forums and the discussion....I think we are all here for the same reasons,to learn from others experiences and offer advice from our own experiences, not call people names and imply anyone is lying .

It seems that MPG in these beast we love and drive is a touchy subject.
If there are Tahoe/yukon owners out there getting better MPG's I want to know what mods they have done, and the conditions they are driving in,so please carry on......Lets just be civil and respectful.

Good Idea Stressst ,I see the option to make a poll when you start a new thread, but I am not sure how to make it post properly.
