My Tahoe was almost stolen in atlanta over the last week. they smashed a screwdriver or something under the driver door handle, got in, and had the plastic loose on the steering column, and had pliers on the ignition switch trying to get it to turn. something spooked them and they left without my truck or taking anything, so what is the best solution for preventing this again?
I know if they really want it theres not much you can do, but it was in a secure parking lot with security supposedly. but since they didnt break the window it was never noticed until I opened it up and realized the column was jacked.

Ive always liked viper and compustar alarms. You can get a glass breakage sensor to add on to the base alarm brain,a proximity sensor thats really made for convertibles but you can use em on anything and set a zone around the vehicle. It will chirp to let intruders know its active and if they get even closer it will sound the alarm. They also have tilt sensors so if someone tries to jack your truck up to steel the rims.Get a 2way so your alarm key pad itself makes tones and vibrates.

viper responder HD/smart start/tilt sensor/glass sensor/gps tracker

two way-remote, alarm trigger activates the remote fob with sound and vibration, app on phone makes a alarm sound.

Any standard aftermarket alarm will go off when the door is opened without additional sensors.
ya the thieves know this so what they usually do is break a window and crawl in, hence adding the glass sensor.

Yeah for sure. That’s why I just had a glass break sensor put in mine. I just mentioned since OP said the thieves broke into his without breaking a window. A standard alarm would’ve gone off in that case.

But yeah, totally recommend the glass break and tilt sensors if you’re putting in an alarm. They’re an cheap add-on.

I will probably end up with a manual disable switch somewhere. they might break in again but they can't take it unless they have a rollback. thats a whole different level.
