Yea, wait till you hit 67 at 6'4" tall and 305 pounds and get up and down from concrete working on a rig that is up on 4 jack stands and trying to help a friend with a repair and they promise to be your "Go Fer" to get tools while you are under the rig and they don't know an open end wrench from a ******' ratchet or a pry bar. Then I have to get up and down to get my own tools out and he wants to talk about inane shit and thinks he's funny. No longer friends and glad of it. My body can't handle that shit no more. I am as good as anyone when I have my tools and am focused on the task at hand but it is hard to put up with stupid when I tell him the exact drawer and the location in the drawer and what it looks like.

my right knee and back would argue that subject lol. older guy i used to work with used to always say its not the age its the mileage. i won't argue i still see myself as younger and more to learn but the mileage has me getting along better with those older than me.

True story, in that you are at the age where things start to 'hurt'. And, yes, its a double whammy when age and mileage are both high numbers at the same time. And, that does not even start to address the voluntary 'unnecessary physical abuse' of the body factor, because of our perceived strength of Hercules and immortality.

@PNW VietVet and I are the same age, and 1 inch and 10 lbs apart, and we are both high mileage. And, I suspect that we are also in the 'unnecessary physical abuse' of the body factor, due to our misguided perceptions of our own immortality.

These days, my metal shoulder and other foreign object implanted into my body remind me daily that I am mortal.

Not complaining, though, just saying. :)

More folks here will chime in, but from my reading the posts in this Forum, I do see a lot of folks who are wary of purchasing a new generation model year truck. If the truck is used, and is at least 3 years old, chances are that new-generation-related problems have been identified, and can be found online.

My Daddy taught me to never buy the first model year but boy oh boy, that new Corvette and the new Yukons and Tahoes and Suburbans would surely put that to the test if I was in the market for a brand new vehicle or two!

One thing of note for you, the engine and transmission are carryovers (5.3 and 6.2 and 10-speed), they are not brand new designs so you can be assured of their reliability and whatever their quirks and faults are, they are well known by now.
The only thing that worries me about the "new" engines is the switch from AFM to DFM - I sure hope they have that mess sorted.

like doing things on ladders you shouldn't do that causes you to fall and twist your knee and land on it hard enough where you damage or rip everything in your knee off. or when i actually thought i was indestructible and tearing the muscles off my spine and ignoring it to my current age so now i have a crooked spine. if i feel this terrible most days when i get to you guys age im going to really be crippled. the ladder was hopefully my last hard lesson but probably wont be.

Two steps up on a ladder is it for me. I am afraid of heights and that 3rd step causes me to freeze. I am happy with that. Never been on a roof. When I was in the Navy on that aircraft carrier, I never ever ever looked over the side.

dunno about looking over an aircraft carrier but going up as high as a jlg 2 man lift will go to work on the overhead cranes at work is well beyond my comfort zone.

The only way you get me that high is give me knock out pills and get me there when I am passed out but I tell you what, your ass is mine when I get down. :biggun:

ha fkers thought it would be funny to trap me up on the crane the one day. got up there on the catwalk and the brought the lift back down. they told me to climb down a beam jokes on them they didn't know we had a secondary disconnect up there for the electrical buss rails. i shut all the cranes down and made them come get me.
