Any Idea when the TAHOE will get 8 spd?

I would guess probably longer than 6 months given that GM did an interim update on the 2015s. It seems like most of the time model year updates that aren't a major redo happen in late summer.

I would think 2016's would be built next September 2015. Nearly 11 months from now. You'll get it a year from now.

wiki 8L90 for the 8 speed and 6L80 for the 6 speed and look at the final gear ration they are almost the same w that said there is no reason to wait. all GM is going to do is bump up the prices for the 8 speed auto.

final gear ratio for the 6 speed is .667
final gear ratio for the 8 speed is .65

The price difference is around $200 for the 8-speed, wireless charging, new nav, hands-free lift gate, and all the associated newer transfer case, axle shafts, and differentials.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but have something to contribute. Most assume the 8 speed will make it into the Tahoe for 2016.

Can't use historical order/production dates for 2015 because GM introduced the trucks early and did not follow a traditional order/production schedule.

2014 Model Year -- Order banks opened on 4/18/13 and production began 7/1/13.

2013 Model Year -- Order banks opened on 4/19/12 and production began 6/4/12.

With limited changes for 2016, my guess is you will be able to order an 8 speed Tahoe this spring and be driving it by late summer.
