i am wanting to cam my 5.3 and dont know much but i want it done soon so if yll got stuff done let know know and some pointers would help ! i want a BIG lope and good power kinda bet of both !!! but ide do good mean lope and not much power dont care about this 5.3 lol

that makes no sense. your truck will drive like shit with BIG lope. Go ahead and get a 238/240 @ 50 in that duration if your going for sound. Then you prob need to upgrade the topend cause your going to need to spin it between 5000rpm and 8000rpm to get moving. But IMO it will sound very good.

Get something the idles like stock and increase 40hp, something with a small duration that you cant even tell its cammed. I mean thats what I would do. Maybe someone with experience chimes in.

Really you need to decided what you want to do with the truck. Is it a show truck? Or do you drive it to the bank and work everyday? Sit in traffic alot?

You sir need to do a shit ton of research before asking posting dumb stuff like that. 1st thing I would do is a upgraded tranny, then pick your converter, then pick the cam that matches your verter with springs pushrods etc, then tune, and etc. Or you could just throw a huge cam in there just to get the lope you want and still get beat by a factory tahoe

I understand the draw you have to a nice hot motor with a large cam. IMO a daily driven tahoe with the 5.3 is not the correct platform. If you want to build something like that get an older burban with the 454 in it. Its just not logical but if you have the money and the desire its certainly possible with your setup. If you want an awesome sound and more power do a supercharger. If you just want a cool sound and don't care about power, I am sure you could find a noisy timing gear set.

You can't just throw in the biggest cam you can find and be done. You have to match it to your converter, gears, valvetrain, intake, exhaust, vehicle's weight, etc or chances are it will run like crap. You can get away with a small cam change and be ok with the stock parts, but a cam with much longer duration, higher lift, lower lsa, etc will require changing the tc, gears, pcm tune, etc to work properly.

^^^ There ya go thats the answer.. I was thinking the same thing you beat me to it.. So yea buddy research, research..... Go on YouTube and look at the cammed 5.3 and their setups.. Good luck...
