Any problems with 01-04 Yukon or Tahoe?

Hi everyone, I am looking at buying one as a secondary car and also to pull my 5000 llb boat. Also looking at Tahoe's as well. I am guessing both are the same?

Are there any issues with this model and years I should look out for when purchasing?

Thx in advance!

Welcome Tommy. Yes, yukon and tahoes are pretty much the same besides some cometics. Major difference between the 00-02 and the 03-06 models is that the 03-06 has upgraded electrical systems and interior.
Look out for tranny issues.

with 03+ one of the biggest issues is the stepper motors in the gauge cluster, they go bad and they're soldered in so its a ***** to replace

and i think 05+ has the fuel filter as a sealed unit inside of the tank, so its more of a pain to replace cause i think you may need a new fuel pump with it, but i'm not 100% on that

You mentioned Denali in the title. Biggest difference is Denali is full-time AWD, not selectable 2 or 4WD like other models. Not sure if that matters for towing a boat though.

Denali will also have autoride, which isn't always the greatest if you have a WD hitch setup. More gadgets on Denalis. I also couldn't find one where the dash and console paint wasn't chipped to hell.

Denali will also have the 6.0 lifer engine. More power but more fuel. We tow a 60000 lb trailer with out 5.3 and it does fine.

Good luck with the search.

front diff's on the Denali's seem to last about 100k then it's a $460 rebuild...put it back in and keep driving. also the chain in the transfer case gets some slop in it and can make noise at low speeds.
