Since I put my rims on (24's) I have had a scraping sound coming from the rear. At first I thought one of my wheels were bent or my rear brake rotors were warped or something serious like that, once I took it apart I figured out it was the dust shield rubbing on the back of the rotors.
The shields were rusting bad and parts were breaking off so I took some of the broken pieces off and thought it was fixed because the noise stopped for about a week, now it has started again and it's pissing me off.

So what I wanted to know was has anyone replaced the rear brake dust shields and if so how did you do it? What exactly has to be removed to get the shields off and the new ones back on? How much do the new ones cost?

Sorry if this was a stupid bunch of questions I just don't feel like taking the wheels off and everything apart just to look again.

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the reply. I found them on ebay for the same price but haven't checked in a store yet either.
I planned on buying them from a member on here but I was wondering if anyone changed them yet so I can find out what went into replacing them.

I bought the replacement shields last week because mine was squeaking also. I have mine to torn down to the bone right now and if I'm not mistaken I'm going to have to pull the damn axels. I'm really not happy right now...... What a freaking stupid design!

LOL, at that point I'd break out the grinder and shears and cut them off. they are "dust shields" and are no more critical than the lack of dust shields on the front of the rotor would suggest.

I forgot I even started this thread......I have had the new set sitting in my garage for the past 6 months, and yeah I saw that thread but like Eagle said I cut the rotted ones off months ago because of the scraping then I figured screw it what's the point in taking all the time to replace them.

My rear diff has locked into posi more than once and I suspect that my 5/16th bolt is also lose?
"Then reinsert the cross shaft and the 5/16" bolt holding the cross shaft in.
A word to the wise, put lock tight on the bolt! Mine was loose when we removed it earlier"

yes, I read that thread word for word.....
Kind of been looking for a reason to crack that pumpkin open and now I have one.....
Call me **** or whatever but I bought the parts and I have the tools... those bitches are going on there.
