Just as the title says - anybody swap out the 1500 series torsion bars with ones from a 2500? What advantages/ disadvantages?
I've heard there will likely be less flex, but what about lift?
Would ones from a 3/4 Sub work, or are they different lengths?

I've even thought about swapping out the whole front end for a 3/4 ton set, including the a-arms, ball joints, tie rods... I could use 3/4 ton hubs, and go with 8-lug wheels. Then I could swap in a 1-ton rearend from a van, with a wider track width...

ive wondered about both but have yet to come across anyone on here with the 2500 bars.

i don't think the 8 lug running gear will bolt up to the frontend. might be easier to swap to a solid front axle at that point. I'd love to drop some 1 ton axles under the Hoe. :)

+1

From what I've heard you can't just swap out 2500 parts(I dunno about the torsion bars). Everything is different sizes. It's would require cutting and welding and basically rebuilding the front IFS.
But, why would you want stiffer torsion bars anyways?

If I want a cushy ride, I'll let some air out of my tires.

It's a goddamn Chevy! It's supposed to do WORK!

I've got a buddy that runs an auto parts shop, maybe we'll do some after-hours examination on some 1500 parts vs 2500 parts, see if all the dimensions are the same.

i think its doable but the 4dr tahoes have diff cross members than trucks and other chevys so if you took bars and cross member off truck or burb it shold work but dont quote me on that
