I think he means the fuel guage reader and all other electronics in the tank. He just got the pump itself but i really would do it all aince the tank is a ***** to drop

When I did my pump it came as a full assembly with the gas level meter too. You can just get the pump but for all the work, & as fuel meters get wonky later in life, a full replacement is ideal.

But, to answer your question, you can remove just the pump from the assembly & replace it.

Imo, I would have done the fuel pump and sending unit(fuel level reader) at the same time. Less work because you're replacing the whole unit instead of having to separate the pump from the assembly. Usually it comes as one whole unit together.

everything works just fine on my truck except that my pump is whinning very loud! i asked a friend/mechanic about it and he told me to just change the pump (if i could find it) there is a minor difference between changing the pump and changing the assembly its around 250.00+ differance. considering i still got the 02 sensor giving me a code (possibly my cats) i need to save $ where i can. hopefully this works as it should.
