So,
Recently I`ve purchased a Tahoe Hybrid. Love the car, to say the least. Put it in the shop to have some issues fixed. But two of the issues they are writing off as just being a "Hybrid thing."
Honestly I think they`re just trying to hurry and get my car out the shop so they won`t have to deal with me voicing my unhappiness with the dealership anymore. If anyone has any ideas what can be causing these two issues please let me know. I`m not pulling my car out the shop until they are fixed.
Issue #1
When you use remote start to start the car, (Mostly when its cold outside) it starts, and its like it didn`t register that it started (or the rmp dropped so low almost sounding like its going to cut off) and tries to start again. The dealership witnessed the issue, but they`re trying to say its a "normal ting."

Issue #2
When I over shifted putting the car in drive one day, I notice that instead of going into Manual 1, it went into M4. I`ve never been in a GM product that starts into M4, I`ve always noticed them going into M1.

I need some ideas, or some help. I honestly think its possibly the transmission.. but like I said, the dealership and I have had some words over the last three weeks since it`s been there and I think they are trying to write it off due to the car being a hybrid, but being a female, they look at me like I have no earthly idea and now I feel like they are just trying to push my car out the shop.

I think my yukon will go into m4 too...I'll check tonight when I get home. As for the remote start, I've never experienced that issue that I can think of.

Thanks a lot.
Will the remote start situation not eventually cause issues?
If the car starts in M4 and not M1, weird, but I guess it is a Hybrid thing. We just don`t have any close reputable dealers/service around here. :/

Simple answer?? Not sure. Sometimes cars have a hard time starting in extremely cold temperatures. Does it only act that way during a remote start attempt or routine startup attempts too? (Is the issue specific to remotely starting the truck). If it's really cold and the battery is original or old, that could be the culprit. There are many rabbit holes we could chase. What state are you in? (Trying to figure out how cold it gets there).

Just saw you are in sc. If that's the case, 32 degrees could have an impact on an old battery...just a guess.

It only happens when I use the remote start... Weather has been cold lately, but normally when it does this it's in like the 60's. So not that cold at all. I asked them to check the battery and they are saying they are all good.. but I've usually noticed it doing it if I sat in the car for a moment and the engine idles to recharge the battery and I cut it off either during or after that.

HyHoe08,

As a customer service representative, I am not able to provide much in the way of do-it-yourself information, so I'm glad to see forum members are beginning to step in with feedback. If you have any lingering concerns, please private message me.

HyHoe08,

I have an 08 Yukon and am in Toronto, Canada. It gets really cold here especially recently. My truck sits in the outdoor parking lot at work all day most days and I remote start it 3 days out of 5 all the time. I can see (and hear) it from my window. It has never, i repeat, never had to restart when using the remote start so your problem is definitely not a Hybrid issue. When warming up in remote start mode, the idle is normal and consistent.

Will check the M4 issue later today and let you know.

Driving and operating section of the hybrid owners manual states

When you move the shift lever into M, the transmission will default to
M4. In this gear range, effective engine braking occurs at speeds above 72 km/h (45 mph).

As for the remote start issue, I can't say one way or the other as mine seems to always be running okay when I remote start and come outside 10 minutes later.

OK confirmed, mine also goes to M4 when shifted to manual. It appears that in M4 mode, it uses the first 4 gears. I originally thought that it was using only the 4th gear but it uses 1 to 4 just no overdrive.
