I have to admit - the more I read threads about subwoofer installs in these trucks, the more confused and perplexed I get. That thread Omar listed illustrated some issues with the Stealthbox install regarding the rear vents. The Q-Logic underseat box does not let the seats fold all the way down. Seems the rear panel is the best "stealth" install option, but even then you have to relocate your jack and stuff. The stock Bose sub is 5.5", so maybe it can be replaced with a JL 6" sub...but that's not going to provide a whole lot of boom for the guys looking to thump.
Dammit, this is really making my head spin as far as what to do about a sub install.
I'm trying to avoid that, since the dogs ride back there. Not a big deal normally, but I'd like something I don't have to remove when we take them up to Maine, or every other week when it my turn to drive the guys to hockey. (3 guys with full gear, and I'm a goalie no less. Would rather not have the subs just back there.)build your own enclosure behind 2nd row IMHO.
The rear air vent issue is only on the Silverado/Sierra. If you were to put a sub in the rear quarter area of an 03-06 some modification would need to be done to the panel for the best sound because the "grill" in the back is not perforated since they moved the factory sub to the console. You would not hear hardly any difference if you replaced the Bose sub with a JL six. It's possible there would be depth issues with that also.
