I have one in my OBS, but I also run a 14 bolt SF axle. What are you trying to get out of it?
I personally like detroit lockers but a friend of mine runs a spartan in his XJ and pounds it mercifully. For the price the spartan is decent. The IFS in these trucks aren't to terrible with 33s or less. Once you hit 35s though all the componets like to fail prematurely regardless of how well you maintain them.
they dont make a locker or limited slip for the 8.25 because it is a very weak front diff because of the aluminum it is made out of. I sas'd my 94 k1500 with a spartan in d44 front and grizzly locker in the 14 bolt rear it is unstoppable in anything. So i use the tahoe for most driving and take the truck for anything that seems impossible. It is very reassuring knowing that i have true 4x4 when needed though.
then the only good option is sas or highly modified ifs.
