Im considering lowering my Denali a bit and going to 22" wheels.

The main reason that I purchased this vehicle was to pull a camper so I dont want to mess with things too much. Who all is towing and what are the limits to work within?

Thanks!

Mine's an '02 but that shouldn't matter. I'm lowered 2/3 and running on 26's with minimal fender clearance, around 1". I maintained my autoride for this reason. I just hauled 1.5 tons of debris in my trailer with no problems at all. I believe that as long as your autoride is functioning, you'll have no problem. There is also the option to supplement it with helper air bags.

I do. lowered on 22. Tow enclosed trailers with motorcycles, Use to haul wood or whatever. Highly recommend airbags because with out bags on mine and just trailer weight, It looks like i have blown rear struts

You must not have autoride or else it's not working then. Keep in mind the op has a Denali.

At what point does one need the airbags for assist? As in, is there a trailer weight that things start to change at and then bags are required?

That depends on if you have Autoride or not, since if you do you already have airbags. Im running 26" rims with a 2/3 drop and have very little fender clearance so it's critical that the rear doesn't drop or I'll be tearing up tires. Last month I made a yard debris run that weighed 2.5 tons plus trailer weight. My Autoride adjusted and the fender clearance was maintained so there was no rubbing whatsoever. Some members run assist bags along with Autoride though but I don't see the need; towing heavy loads is what it's designed for. If you don't have Autoride I would think you need airbags for most any drop it you want to tow.
