It is too expensive. I was going to buy them a while back but it’s still about $2k in parts all in and that’s IF you can find deals in the pads and rotors. I’d rather just buy the GM Brembo kit that is actually made for the vehicle and will go right on with no questions.

All that and you end up with calipers with Corvette on them. You won’t be far behind price wise to a Wilwood kit either.

Look a bit further into a brake swap ? IF you get into an accident and the insurance company finds out that there are different brakes on the car other than original there is a very big chance that they won't cover you. Look further into it like I did.

Wilwood Baer etc. are racing brakes not intended for street use.

Ummm - I think that is incorrect.

The Wilwood big brake kits that they market for trucks - at least the ones for the 8 lug trucks - are specifically marketed for armored vehicles, vehicles that tow - etc. Go read the website.

Not sure why your insurance company is going to blanket not cover the vehicle - when you just made it brake better.

I can tell you for a fact that I'm much more able to avoid smashing into the rear end of people panic braking in rush hour traffic now with my 6500 pound 3/4 ton Yukon XL - than I was before with the factory brakes now that it has a set of the Wilwood brakes on the front.

This is what I found when researching a much needed brake upgrade. Don't get me wrong I want to put much more power in the Tahoe. Along with more power very much needed stopping power is also needed.

You might be with the wrong insurance company. I don't recall any wording whatsoever in my insurance policy about vehicle modifications - and typically you'll on get dinged for a modification if it actually CAUSES an accident.

Again - bigger brakes that make the car actually more safe - shouldn't be the cause of an accident unless the wheel falls off after you make the mod - because somebody did something wrong.
