I have a 96 that I'm just kind of messing with. It's been a nightmare. The intake gaskets went first. Now if I drive to the gas station or like a 10 minute or so trip the oil gauge drops to zero when stopped. When I cruised back home the gage was fine, but when I parked it dropped again. It doesn't leak a lot of oil, maybe a couple drops a week. It's full of oil. I haven't driven it since it did the gage drop, cause I didn't want to mess it up. It also has the P1345 code, so I guess if it's the sending unit I can get that fixed at the same time since they'll be in the general area.

Is the sending unit an expensive repair if I take it to someone? This truck is killing my wallet.
