My beloved Yukon has been giving me trouble lately. I posted a thread 1-2weeks ago about my transmission acting up, and it seems that a damaged sunshell is the likely culprit. So I'm in the market for a new transmission.
But to make it worse... the weather is the coldest its been all year and the heater went out so its been cold as balls in the cabin of my truck and defogging the windshield has been a bit of a challenge. I love this truck though so even if it completely fails, I won't get rid of it. I'd spend the money to replace or rebuild the whole drivetrain if I had to.
Wait... there's more.... So as of the last 1 1/2 weeks, my truck has been running much hotter than usual. It never usually rises past the 1/4 mark on the gauge, and maybe 1 or 2 ticks past in stop and go heavy traffic, which is negligable. Lately it rises to the 1/2 way mark or 3/4 mark when I'm stopped, sometimes even getting dangerously close to the redzone. It runs at normal temperature at cruising speeds and highway speeds. Basically as long as I'm moving it will stay right where it should be. I've noticed that the way I apply any gas seems to affect how quickly my temps drop back to normal. The engine fan seems to work properly and there's no obvious play in the fan clutch. I checked on my lunch break for any leaks and the only spot that may have been leaking was the waterpump, but I'm not 100 percent sure. I don't have any white smoke out of the exhaust. Could this have anything to do with my transmission acting up? Could it just be the waterpump? (I could swear I heard the waterpump while I was sitting in traffic, making noises it didn't use to make) I doubt I have any head gasket problems, but I could always check that with a kit to be sure. Any ideas, or step in the right direction?
Thanks
