I have a been searching online on videos to do an install on a 2002 chevy tahoe with a non bose system that has a factory amp..... i am going to list the issues I have in getting this install done by myself instead of paying someone to do it.
so here i go.. Pictures to my questions would be greatly appreciated.
1. can anyone here show me a picture where they ran they ran there power cable through the firewall into the driverside?
2. I plan on running a 4 channnel amp to my aftermarket door speakers and a 2 channel amp to my sub. Can some tell me or show me pictures how they bypassed the factory amp?
3. How did you wire your aftermarket HU to your speakers? My Alpine has 3 preouts I think they are Front Rear/Subs. I plan on using patch cables then connecting them to y adapters to the 4 channel so i can control my door speakers somewhat.

SO guys i guess what i really need is HOW DO YOUR BYPASS the FACTORY amp and wire it to a after market HU PLEASE help! I would gretly appreciate.

1. I drilled a new hole and ran it that way.

To actually bypass the factory amp, you will have to run new speaker wires from your stereo (or amp) into each door to each speaker. If you want to integrate with the factory amp, just tie your speaker wiring from the stereo to the speaker wires in the dash harness, and connect the pink wire in the 9pin small harness to the remote wire on the radio. That will trigger the amp to turn on whenever the radio is on.

to actually bypass the amp CORRECTLY!!!!! you have to locate the factory amp and use a tone generator on the output wires to the speakers then just cut and splice your wiring from your aftermarket amp. the other way is possible but also a very good way to burn out your factory amp which in turn would leave u to do it the correct way or buy a new factory amp that willl just burn out again

when i did mine i left the factory amp and wiring intact.. i then simply ran speaker wire into all four doors. it is very easy on the tahoe. as far a a hole through the firewall. if you remove the fender to body brace the unbolt the cruise module the will be a grommet you can drill right next to. you will prob have to use a razor knife to cut away the sound deadener on the inside of the firewall. always double then triple check before drilling!!!

Thanks. Also instead of hooking the power cable directly to the battery I hooked it to the positive side of this red looking box located lower left of the car battery. I believe it has a cable connected to the stock alternator? Is that a good idea or should i just run the power cable directly to the positive terminal on the car battery. I just have my alternator or battery die on me today. Do you think it happened because of the setup I did?

I would just run it the extra foot or so to the battery, but that is just me.

2)you don't bypass the factory amp you run new wires to your new equipment leave the bose amp alone
3)you don't wire the after market HU to your speakers you will use the pre outs with patch cables

Where is the pink wire located on the harness? I am getting no sound at the moment. Would you happen to have a picture
