2001 Tahoe. The auto dimming only dims with really bright lights behind me (or if I shine a flashlight into the sensor). How can I get this mirror working well again?

Thanks for the reply Chauncey
It's supposed to dim when there are headlights behind you...it doesn't unless the headlights of the vehcle behind me are VERY bright. The mirror used to work (dim) well, now it doesn't.

Same here. Mine never dims. Sucks at 17:00ish when the sun is going down and it blinds me. Used to work just fine then one day just stopped.

Maybe the sensor has gone bad or not as sensitive because of dust. Might need to clean the sensor with a q tip or get a new mirror.
