Ok, so after reading all the threads about adding resistors to get rid of the Auto headlamps and the issues that mod has, such as the dash lights being full bright all the time, the Auto HVAC not working correctly, etc. I decided to go a different route and couldnt be happier!

First off, with doing some research through my GM dealer (which I used to work at) they were nice enough to let me back on thier computers to do this research, I came up with the perfect solution.

Its called RPO code 9G8 and it comes as an option for PPV and SSV Tahoes and Suburbans 07-13. What it does is delete the daytime running lamps and delete the auto headlamp functions. The "auto" position on the switch actually becomes "off". And as a bonus, even when the wipers are run for more than the 8 swipes the lights still stay off.

Now, this isnt a free mod, your dealer will most likely charge between $50 and $100 to do this, as they will need to contact GM and get a new BCM file uploaded to them to load into your truck. And GM charges the dealer to rewrite the BCM file. But it does become a permanent file on your truck, and no matter where you get it serviced, it will always show up on their computer with that option code and can not be changed unless the tech gets a new file from GM.

This is the quote from the PPV/SSV order sheet:
9G8 - Delete Daytime Running Lamps and Automatic Headlamps. This option
disables the Daytime Running Lamps and Automatic Headlamps control feature.
Exterior lamps are manually controlled only. Option 9G8 not available in Canada.

I had this done a couple days ago when I got my tow mirrors programmed and had them do it all at the same time. So far everything works as it should.

Just wanted to pass along the info.

Do you know how to enable the day time lights? I am trying to the exact opposite of what you did. I have a 2015 Tahoe SSV I think I want to have day time running lights so that I don’t have to bother manually turning lights on and off.

I drive fords, basically got used to for having the lights on AUTO all the time.

I have fordscan tool which allows to enable or disable features to the car via the obd port for something similar. I wish Chevy had a similar tool, because I like to mess around lol.
