I just noticed that on my left front door the front of the door panel where the dash settles in is loose. I can probably push it in about 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the driver's side and barely on the pax side. I wonder if this is my issue. Well I'm due for an oil change so I'll probably take it in after the holidays.

Let us know what you find out. My dash on the front left side will sometimes squeak because of a sub-par mount, though I can't push it a full 1/4 of an inch. The noise is more of an itch and seems to temporarily go away once I apply some pressure in the far left corner of the dash near the headlight switch. Much more annoyed by the door rattle though.

Roger - Sounds like I have the same issue you do on my 08 Yukon with the door lock rattle. It appears to be coming from both front doors and it drives me insane. When I hear it driving (over bumps and rougher roads), I can at least diagnose that it comes from the lock area by using my forearm to apply pressure on the padding just above the elbow rest. Does that sound familiar to you? If so have you found a fix?

I may also have the striker plate issue, but your the first on the boards I have heard describe a door lock rattle which sounds more like my issue. Would make me so much more content with the truck if I could get this fixed!

From what my dealer told me, you have the text book example of bad striker plates.

I'll probably be taking it in next Friday morning for service and to look at the driver's door so I'll let you know.

Well I had it in the shop today. It was cold (19F) and it was actually not making noise. I showed him the gap in the front and they said there are no mounting clips missing. I guess I just have to wait until it warms up again. I definitely want to get if fixed before we do a cross country trip in July.

Did you see my post about my passenger seat making a rattling noise? It SOUNDS as though it's coming from the dash or the door or something, but it's not. I realized that I couldn't hear it with a passenger in the seat, so I determined it was seat-related. I'm still not sure if it's mount-related, or if it's from the plastic part of the seat covers under the front of the seat... But, either way, if I grab under the front, left corner of the seat and pull upward while driving, I can't hear the rattle.

I'm going through this myself and found this thread from 2010....

I've got rattles coming from the passenger seat and rear passenger side seat. I've removed the headrests for diagnosis and it wasn't those.. The only thing that makes the rattling go away is when someone is sitting in those seats.

When going down a gravel road, I noticed that the plastic interior door lock mechanisms rattled but I found a fix for that on YouTube which I've posted below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wll8HaRytM

The little HVAC sensor fan in the headliner above the driver seat is starting to drive me insane because of noise when it's cold at start-up. My two previous trucks had this same issue and I've never dealt with it. (It's always gone within 2 minutes of start-up so not on my mind when I get back to the house.) I did find this statement from Chevy for NBS trucks and they used the same part on the newer trucks:

"Document ID# 1639237

#PIT3511

Condition/Concern:
Dealer or customer may comment that they have a buzz or vibration noise emanating from the headliner in an area that looks like microphone or a speaker.

Recommendation/Instructions:
The plastic escutcheon grill, which is round and about the size of a half dollar and located just above the driver to the left, is the interior ambient temperature sensor. The sensor is used in conjunction with the automatic HVAC (C68). On occasions, this sensor has been known to make a buzz or rattle sound. The sensor uses a small fan to pull air over the sensor. This buzz noise may be intermittent.

Although it may not be possible to alleviate all of the buzz or noise from this sensor, Engineering has found that if the sensor is installed incorrectly that it may bind and cause the fan to make a buzz noise. Remove the sensor and while doing so check for any binding. Reinstall the sensor and re-test. If the noise is still present, the sensor itself may be noisy and require replacement."

The seat rattling is getting worse so if anybody has resolved this issue, please....for the love of God.....please let me know. I did find this, but no final remedy:

Thanks!
