I've got a '99 4dr 'Hoe and as I was leaving soccer practice I closed the glass on the tailgate and it shattered. I had to stay and pick up the pieces as well as take care of any loose glass for the ride home.

Now what should i do next? The wiper assembly is laying in the back and the defrost wire is still connected but just hanging there. If I find one at the junkyard, would it be possible to replace it myself? How much would a dealer charge? Thanks for the help.

According to LMC the glass replacement would cost $200 plus shipping. I called my local GlasPro and they quoted $419 to replace. I can see now that it isn't really a junkyard part that can be easily replaced unless they had a liftgate with the same interior and paint colors.
I;ll give Safelite a shot as well. They are right down the road from me. Thanks.

Safelite was $257 installed with an 8:00 a.m. appointment, so that is the direction I'll probably take. One question though. I looked at where the liftgate attached and it looks like it is only the two C-clip pins and the struts. Where do the wires detach? Is it under the rubber boot somewhere?

257? yikes. the hell with that. yes 2 pins at the top, then the struts then there should be 2 wires behind the window trim, youll have to take off all that trim with a screw driver and pull all the push pin things out.. then youll see the defroster wires in 2 large oval holes..

BigDaddy, ony if you were closer. Shipping would be about as much to buy it.

I'm going to put some plastic on it today and then stop by LKQ on the way home tomorrow to see if they have one before I pull the trigger on Safelite. Again, thank you guys for all of the help. I'm glad I chose to join this forum.
