Last week, my right window started to not defrost. I have enclosed pictures of the contacts so you can see if anything is blatantly obvious as to why it would just stop working out of the blue.

Thanks in advance!

Here is the door having problems:

Here is the door that's fine:

Seems like one of the pins is stuck in, not sure if it's supposed to? Also, It also seems like there are 5 leads on the truck and the door only has 4? If anyone could shed some light that would be awesome. Thanks :)

The 5th contact on the door (the lowest one) is missing, also the top pin on the truck should not be stuck in like that.

It also looks like your 4th contact is about to fall off.

I would just go to a junkyard and look for some OBS Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, with the barn doors and just take the piece that is on the door, and the piece that is on the door jam.

There are only 4 contacts on the door. The others are right that your top pin should not be pushed in. Remove the unit and see if you can access the pin through the back and fix the spring that pushes the pin out. If you can't fix it, replace the unit with the pins, not the unit with contacts on the door, that part is fine. Here are some pics of mine and they work fine.

Huh, my bad then, I could've sworn when I went out to look at mine that I saw a 5th contact there. Anyway, yeah, that top pin that is pushed in probably isnt making contact with the door anymore.

Yeah I know what you mean. Doesn't really make sense that there are 5 pins but only 4 contacts on the door. If you look at the door there is a space for a 5th contact but no hole to mount it or to tie it in to the electrical. Maybe GM made it that way incase they wanted to add an extra option like a wiper etc.

I'll admit, a wiper on the barn doors would've been pretty cool. When it's pouring like hell outside (And since I'm in Florida, it happens a lot) it'd be nice to have wipers on the barn doors. But then I can see why they wouldn't have done that, I'm sure a dual wiper system would've been expensive and complicated. Because then they would've had to add nozzles and lines for window cleaner, synchronized motors for each doors, and most likely they would end up being the side-to-side wipers like they have on buses.

Wipers like these

Also probably would've been odd looking.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll unscrew the contacts tomorrow and see why it got stuck. Anyone know what the 5th pin is for by any chance? My vote is for wiper, but I'm not sure why they'd put that in on a barn door truck. Seems like they would have included that just for tailgate hoe's

Well iirc the system we have on the bar doors (4 contacts/5 pins on one door & 2 contacts/2 pins on the other) is only for the barn doors. The liftgate on the regular Hoes use a different type of system to give the defroster/wiper power. So I guess we may never know what the 5th pin was for.

This problem popped up again for me. Now, the springs are all out and not stuck in, but I'm not getting a defroster anymore. Does anyone have a schematic for the pins as to which each one is? I know there are some for the door locks and the others for the defroster. I'm just not sure which is which. I have cleaned them, but no luck. Also, the 7mm bolts seem to be too close to actually get them unscrewed?
