Man, I was real hesitant to jump on the 4-yr Extended Bumper-to-Bumper w/Loaner, but already cashed in on an O2 sensor, exhaust leak, that voltage gauge issue, etc. Just drop it off, grab keys to another vehicle there, and on my way = no charge! (LOL – money, not voltage that is).

New alternator seems to have fixed everything.

I'm having this same problem right now. "Battery not charging" just came like a bolt of lightning, out of nowhere. I've had rock solid 14v on the cluster voltmeter until yesterday. Last night it would stick at 12v then jump up to 14 after driving for about 60 seconds. It's like the Alternator was not "turning on" until the engine had run for a while or until there was a higher RPM achieved to "excite" the alternator to turn on.

Was a new alternator the permanent fix for you?

Anyone else seen this issue, and/or have a possible solution?

Voltage regulator dying. Change the alternator before it leaves you with a dead battery stranded on the side of the road in who knows where.
