@Rocket Man Yup the mileage is a part of the process when you buy this cluster, send in current KM (or my guess since it would be a 3 week ship, guesstimate how much I'll drive in 3 weeks), specify if steering wheel has the hands free controls and of course model of truck

Well as they say ... "There goes the weekend!" (In a good way)
I have the new cluster from Texas installed
Clock Spring has arrived
Tech2 is sitting in my hands now. Having some communication issues but I'm chalking it up to an older USB adapter hacked to Windows 11 not passing through to the Oracle Virtual Box properly. I'll grab a new one at Canada Computers tomorrow.

The only part the kinda bites is I will need to swap the over from the new cluster over (it's in MPH not KMH and although it DOES show km on the dial, it's on the inside and not lit)

When I use vm ware I just get a pop up to pass the device to the vm or not whenever I plug in a new device. Never had any issues.

Good luck!

@Fless it's an older USB to RS232c from Radio Shack. It's running well on a laptop (Lenovo T510) I picked up from the local value Village for $25. Dropped in an SSD and Windows 7 and It's good to go!

The only "booboo" I just did was to inadvertently downgrade the software on the Tech2 to whatever came on the CD. So the Tech2 is working again but at an older version that doesn't recognize dates newer than 2010. But as long as it knows what my 2006 Subby is, I'll be happy.

Other task is to order in an adapter to allow the wheel controls to talk to my Pioneer 2400NEX

But so far Clock spring installed and working. The one I ordered was missing the connector for Trans temp sensor so.... small loss but I can rewire in later

But on a very happy note, the Cluster does NOT care about the VIN. The cluster has the technical knowledge of the Mileage/Fuel Economy/Advancedx DIC. the BMC contains the list of options it can can change and will differ with each BMC including some of the selectable options

So m new cluster now works from the steering wheel. I will have to play with a disassembly at one point since it SHOWS km on the inside but it's different or possibly painted / hidden colour on the inside and not visual at night.

So I do the old 6x rule when I see a sign to flip km to miles :)

So on a completely pointless "Sean messed up note", anybody here in the Ottawa GTA that if I bring over my PCMCIA card we can dupe from another Tech2 to update it? ;)

*cough cough* I can bring cookies, or beer :p
