What’s the best approach to take as far as dealership selection for a custom order of a 2022? I have a few smaller local dealers that see one to two tahoes at a time with current stock, and meanwhile the largest in the state has 10-15 right now. Are the larger dealers more likely to get allocation than a smaller? Or is it a crapshoot regardless? Would prefer to stay local if possible…

Thanks!

If they have allocation it doesn’t matter from what I can tell.

Place an order at both, large and local, and seewho gets the allocation first. Just tell them you won't put a deposit down til GM accepts the order and it starts going thru the process, since there are so many constraints currently.

Appreciate the quick replies! Of the 4 I’ve tried they all request a deposit to even go on the “list” waiting for an allocation….will keep this in mind when I am ready to pull the trigger. They all seemed like it was up in the air on allocation timing given the constraints as well.

I straight up told the sales reps "look, you don't know when the order is going to be accepted by GM, or if it even will be in the next 6 months. As soon as it does get accepted, I'll give you more than the 1k deposit if you are that worried about it. But it doesn't do me any good to have your dealership to hold my money when I could be investing it during the waiting time to make more money for buying this truck"

They really couldn't disagree with my logic, and ultimately allowed me to order and get in line.

This is exactly what I tell them. I have my order in at like 8 dealerships. All different sizes of dealership. I tell them "when you get an allocation you call me and I will put whatever deposit down you want." One wanted to hold a check and they are local so I let them do that, they said they wouldn't cash it until they got approval from me. I wouldn't do that with just anyone though.

Will definitely take this route, good luck with your order!

Funny I was thinking that same logic……like roadside assistance……..

Call OnStar and AAA…..whomever shows up first CXL the other.

I would have no problem with the $1K hold to two different dealers…. Knowing my luck…they will both show up at the same time and I will have the awkward moment. I would think that it would get flagged by GM……….
