Hi all,

While working on a recent tail light ground short, I looked up (while chasing down grounds, and realized that my spare tire is missing, the pully cable is snapped and a *little* frayed, as wel

I tried unrolling the cable in order to see how much as actually left in hopes of just splcing on the plate that the hoists and secures the wheel but can't get anything to come out.

I have NO idea how/when/why it came off, but there doesn't seem to be anything left in there.

So, any tips on replace the hoist assembly?

Thanks

No answer for you.....but I'll watch this thread. Had my spare tire fall off. Luckily it was in a parking lot and not on the freeway. That could have been BAD.

If you have a minute, go here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

Report it, as it is a serious safety issue, and maybe we can eventually get it fixed for free. Probably will never happen, but hey, can't hurt to take 5 minutes.

How did you go about trying to unroll it? The same way youd drop the spare tire? or via tugging on the cable?
