I don't know if you guys knew this or not, but the storeys mayer if you have a steel vs aluminum lift gate. I removed my steel lift gate and replaced it with aluminum using the same supports and all i can say is damn, this thing lifts so quick and almost hit me in the face....every time

okay so there are other people with steel lift gates. Mine is steel, and I have to lift it all the way up. I'm sure these would help me.

Ok... so these are too strong for the glass. I test fit them and I was afraid I would break the glass pulling it closed... I'm going to reorder the ones (10592N10W) that are specified as stock on the assumption that mine are weak because they are old and tired.

Stay tuned...

Received my "stock replacement" capacity pistons today and they are great... it is hard to believe how weak the old ones were. These A L M O S T feel too powerful... but they are great... getting higher rating ones is not recommended...

LiftSupportsDepot was great about accepting the return and shipping out the replacements too... great company service, great selection, good prices.

You an go on the Lift Support Depot website and spec out your stock struts I think... or maybe I did that at some other site. then I can back to LSD to get ones with a bit more oomph.

Old post but it took forever to re locate this post for a second time. Figured I would bump it back up. It would be a great sticky.

Just replaced my lift gate assist struts with escalade variants and it's night and day! Takes 5 minutes with a flathead screwdriver. You just have to remove both old struts before one of the newer units will go on.
